This is one of my favorite landscape paintings. I love the simplicity of the clear blue sky and golden meadow forming a backdrop for the colorful trees and horses grazing in the field. I created a thick texture of lighter blue over darker blue to add interest to the plain sky and did a similar technique for the meadow adding subtle shades of yellows, ochres, and browns to add texture while the overall look is pretty uniform. Adding the horses creates a focal point and added interest.
