One of the best roads to take in the fall color in the Colorado Springs area is the road to Cripple Creek. Cripple Creek was a booming mining town in its day but now most of the mining is done at the numerous casinos. But the road to get to Cripple Creek is gorgeous and especially scenic during peak color season. In Colorado, the predominant color is yellows with some oranges from all the aspens. I stopped to get this photo because of the interesting shapes formed by the eroded bank exposing the roots and the dark green pines providing a perfect backdrop for the colorful aspens.
